Kevin McCarthy has been ousted as Speaker and you’ll never guess who Republicans want to appoint (You will!)
Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, has been given the boot by his own party, in a very close vote of 216 to 210.

While the repercussions are potentially disastrous for both parties – and the people of the US – it was too tempting not to have a dig or several.

Thoughts and Prayers for Kevin McCarthy.

In a completely predictable move, some Republicans – and you can almost certainly guess the main ones – have suggested Donald Trump might want the job.

Whatever Trump may think, it’s against the rules. Yes, we know he breaks rules – and that’s working out so well for him right now.
I would direct your attention to rule 26(a) of the House Republican Conference rules for the 118th Congress. https://t.co/nHqwjpUR3z pic.twitter.com/AbI3IVjNg5

Despite it being a non-starter, some of the reactions were unmissable.
1.
I take one day off Twitter and Kevin McCarthy is ousted as Speaker. I'm not saying there's any connection, but I AM saying I should spend more time off Twitter & see if Republicans will actually make tRump his replacement.

The idea that Donald Trump would learn how congress works is laughable. I really want to see it. https://t.co/CLWGrsEi0m

If Trump is Speaker, it’ll be like his Covid press conferences. He’ll never stop talking and nothing will get done. GOP governance will be even worse than it is now. But TV will love it for the entertainment value. bleh https://t.co/AKi4s4a3UW

Kevin McCarthy’s detractors criticized him for being a man with no convictions. Which makes Trump a great replacement, as soon he will have a ton of convictions.

Ohno, please don’t make Trump speaker do the house, I would feel so owned watching Trump sit there, behind Biden, at the next SOTU, while wearing an ankle bracket and a ball gag. No no no, please don’t do this, you very smart and totally cool Republicans.

Is this something he can do remotely from the golf course in between court hearings now? https://t.co/QcJkwO1EHI

Trump will not be elected speaker. He will never be elected to anything ever again.
