Michael Jackson never got plastic surgery.

He was known to be fascinated with make up and prosthetics after filming his Thriller video, and would sometimes get done up to go out in public so he wouldn’t be recognized.

The theory is that in the early 90s he started to wear these on a regular basis including lightning his skin tone. The prosthetics and skin tone got further and further away from his original appearance until one day he faked his death and was able to walk out of the building as a dark-skinned middle-aged black man and to this day no one recognizes him living a normal life.
