Videos Newsnight Victoria Derbyshire
No-one will ever deal with a protestor as well as Victoria Derbyshire on last night’s Newsnight
Newsnight went on the road last night with as part of a series of programmes in which they discuss issues of the day with a panel and a studio audience. A bit like Newsnight, then, but better.
And the reason it’s better is mostly to do with presenter Victoria Derbyshire, who last night also had to deal with an interruption by a protestor at the very end of the programme.
And the way Derbyshire handled it will surely never be bettered, as shared by TV critic, writer and presenter, @scottygb.

I must say, too, that @vicderbyshire handled this impeccably – not only is she supremely courteous but expresses gratitude to Angela for the protest. She even read out the banner’s slogan for those who couldn’t see it. First class intuitive spontaneity. https://t.co/WQuK0bo75N

@vicderbyshire handled the interruption with respect, compassion and professionalism. Wonderful to watch. Thank you Victoria for bringing heart back to political programming.

The Daily Mail begged to differ, however, and Victoria Derbyshire had the perfect response.
There was pretty much zero ‘chaos’ https://t.co/huwjrQMa7H
