Americans thought it was winter in Scotland because it’s so cold and these locals’ on-song responses will warm your chilly heart
The Taylor Swift Era tour arrived in Scotland at the weekend before heading into England this week and very wonderful it was too, by all accounts.
But there was one thing that took the singer’s American fans by surprise – the weather.
it’s so crazy to see her hair so straight at that point of the show omggg and also it looks so cold? pic.twitter.com/145E4vLi91

And they weren’t the only one.
someone correct me if im wrong but isn’t it winter over there? and that’s why it’s so windy/she looks cold pic.twitter.com/00apf2wxtu

This fellow American had a theory with an unlikely-sounding source. Harry bleedin’ Potter.
This is where she is right now. Edinburgh, Scotland. It’s just chilly up there because it’s so close to the Arctic Circle. if you’ve read Harry Potter, think of all the descriptions of cold weather J. K. Rowling has described in the books bonus points for the fact that Scotland… pic.twitter.com/vMJ964HZe8

But it’s fair to say it was only so much help.
If she had scheduled Scotland in July or August would it be a lot warmer?

Since I have never been to Scotland and the Hogwarts school year runs until June, I can’t really give any input. I’ll leave that to the locals.

Fortunately for us – and everyone else – there was no shortage of ‘locals’ (and indeed from elsewhere) only too happy to help.
The Americans have just discovered Scotland https://t.co/udvEji1u8K

Dude…..She’s in Scotland. The seasons are the same there as here. They’re the opposite in the southern hemisphere

“apparently Scotland’s weather continues somehow after June? I wouldn’t know though because in the Harry Potter books the school term ends in June so you’d have to consult some locals”pic.twitter.com/O8lTaFfcX5

I’m howling at people thinking June in the uk is winter because we truly get two days of summer https://t.co/YS11TJJRZf

the americans still haven’t figured out hemispheres https://t.co/9pai3GPZfj

To be strictly fair to our American cousins, let’s go back to one of the Taylor Swift fans who started all this.
I am so sorry to everyone bc I assumed since it’s windy plus her hands are very red it’s winter and im from texas where in summer that means it’s 100° degrees f (or 37° c since there’s so many non americans here) on a regular basis,
— ً jenny (@swiftswar) June 10, 2024
also for everyone in my quotes and replies saying “dumb americans” i literally said “correct me if im wrong” bc i wasn’t sure??
— ً jenny (@swiftswar) June 10, 2024
Well said.
To be fair, we are having a shocking lack of heat so far this summer, so I get the confusion. Current highs of 15-18C (59-64F) in the north west of england, which is usually warmer weather than Scotland, so…
