This letter to the Irish Times hilariously captures the nation’s attitude to the weather right now
It’s not been a great summer so far, it’s fair to say. In fact, it’s fair to say it’s been downright piss poor, but it’s still early days right?
Which neatly brings us to this rather fabulous letter to the Irish Times which went viral after it was shared by @akellyucc over on Twitter.

One subtle difference seems to have escaped him: in winter, the Irish go around saying "It's Baltic".

He reports this like it’s somehow odd?

In Houston, the winter is 75 and people carry around jackets in case it gets colder. In the summer it’s 95, and people carry around jackets to wear inside the stores for the AC. https://t.co/i4agQRqynw

I pulled into a hotel car park in Sopot on the Polish Baltic in 2012. The security guard ambled over when he saw the Irish reg. He told me he had spent a few years working security in Dunnes in Ennis.
“Why did you come home?” I asked.
He smiled. “I couldn’t stand the weather…”— Philip Nolan (@philipnolan1) June 15, 2024
