This ‘shepherd’s pie in a pint glass’ is bad enough, but it was the thing in the background that really got people talking

We’d kind of thought, or at least hoped, that the days of restaurants and pubs serving food on anything other than a plate were mercifully coming to an end.

Fish and chips on a slate tile, a roast dinner on a wooden board, soup in a shoe – surely the moment has passed?

But no. Jamie Klingler has posted a new culinary abomination on Twitter/X. It appears to be a shepherd’s (or quite possibly a cottage) pie masquerading as a pint of Guinness. It’s as grim as you would expect.

Truly awful. Are you supposed to eat it or down it in one?

Of course, people had opinions.

That’ll be a firm ‘nope’ from everybody, then.

But what really got people talking was the ‘thing’ lurking in the background of the picture. Did you spot it? These people certainly did.

Let’s zoom in…

Answers on a postcard, please! It’s almost enough to put us off our vase of apple crumble.
