The Empire State Building had beef with the Bean, and it raised snark to high art

In today’s episode of Social Media Management is a Wild Ride, the Empire State Building – recently named the world’s top tourist attraction – has brought some serious snark to a much less famous attraction, the Chicago Bean.

The Bean – or, to give it its Sunday Best name, Cloud Gate – is a piece of public art by Anish Kapoor, which has the appearance of a drop of mercury, but is actually made up of 168 steel plates.

It had been hidden from view for the past year during maintenance and renovation work, but has now reopened.

It was good news for Chicago, both for residents and visitors.

The Empire State stepped in to pull rank – and it was prime snark.

A meme of a woman saying Clap if you care, plus a sign that says Hot Topics.

‘Clap if you care.’

The absolute shade! The internet was here for it.
