This unmissable rainy 110m men’s hurdles final was 10 per cent athletics and ninety per cent slip’n’slide

The finals of the men’s 110m hurdles at the 123.ie 152nd National Senior Championships in Dublin’s Morton Stadium was more like a slip’n’slide than an elite athletics event.

Only three of the five entrants crossed the finish line, and one did it in spectacular style.

Watch what happened.

We’ve seen penguins doing that on some of those David Attenborough programmes, but we never expected to see hurdler Adam Nolan do it on the track. Gerard O’Donnell almost took the gold for staying on his feet.

On Twitter/X, it caught the attention of John – @dafneflippers – who had an apt description.

He shared the clip.

People were very entertained.

There was an obvious question.

And an equally obvious answer.

John felt a little bad about sharing the runners’ embarrassing moment.

Fair play to Mr. Aquaplane himself, Adam Nolan.

Now, that’s what you call a good sport.
