Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman’s been touted to succeed Gareth Southgate and these (male) England fans’ fury is a fabulously funny read

Now that Gareth Southgate has resigned as England manager having taken England to their first final of a major tournament on foreign soil, capping a magnificently successful eight years in the job, all thoughts turn to who will succeed him.

And to the list of possible successors who are said to include Eddie Howe, Thomas Tuchel, Lee Carsley and Mauricio Pochettino comes someone who has taken the England football team to a major final and won.

Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman, that is, according to reports today.

Here’s what Siegman had to say about it: ‘I think it’s really inappropriate to have that conversation. I’m with the Lionesses and very happy.’ So very much not a no, then.

And the possibility meant many people’s thoughts turned to one person in particular. You remember – Joey Barton.

And not only Barton.

Talking of exploding man babies, the fury of these fans make for a fabulous funny read.
