News Margaret Thatcher scotland

RIP to Cathy Rutherford, star of this legendary response to Margaret Thatcher’s death

Pour one out for a true viral news legend.

Twitter/X user Jackie English has shared the news that her aunt, Cathy Rutherford, has died. And in her lovely tribute, Jackie re-shared Cathy’s most blazing moment in the sun when she was asked about Margaret Thatcher during the former PM’s state funeral in 2013.

In the video clip, a reporter asks Cathy if Thatcher did any good. And her reply is, well, best have a watch for yourself.

“Not a bit of good. Not a bit. I’d put a stake through her heart and garlic around her neck to make sure she never comes back.”

The shocked reporter responds with, “isn’t that a pretty horrible thing to say with her funeral going on right now?”

To which Cathy replies: “Too bad. Too bad.”

Needless to say, people wanted to pay tribute to Cathy too.
