People have been suggesting ways the Tories could choose their new leader – 16 definitely workable suggestions

After the party’s spectacular losses sent them into opposition for the first time since 2010, Rishi Sunak announced his intention to step aside when a new Conservative leader can be found.

At the time of writing, only Robert Jenrick, Tom Tugendhat and James Cleverly have officially declared their candidacy, but Kemi Badenoch, Suella Braverman, Priti Patel and Mel Stride are expected to join them before the July 29th deadline.

Voting won’t begin until September, and the new leader won’t be announced until November 2nd, giving all of the hopefuls a full summer and part of autumn to do something stupid/despicable/cringeworthy (delete as appropriate) enough to rule them out of the contest.

The BBC published an explanation of the process, with this question –
