‘Here in Sydney, police regularly strip search people at music festivals based on phoney drug detection dog indications. They do it at pubs and train stations too. We’re talking completely naked searches where people are made to bend over, squat etc.
Back in 2001, New South Wales (state in Australia, Sydney is the capital) introduced a law giving police the power to deploy drug detection dogs at certain public locations, namely at major events such as music festivals, at train stations and at venues that serve alcohol, such as pubs and clubs. These dogs are notoriously inaccurate, and there are reports on social media of handlers forcing their dogs to sit in front of people in order to have them searched.
You’ll regularly see the dogs at train stations here accompanied by big groups of police. On the weekends they’re often brought into pubs. A large group of police will come in and block the exits and the dog will be brought around to sniff people. Total gestapo stuff. Makes it feel like we lost a war.’

‘A realistic one would be harsher penalties for companies that pollute the environment. It feels like we still let too many big players off the hook when they cause major damage.’

‘Gambling advertisements being everywhere. They made cigarette ads illegal, they should do the same for gambling which is a terrible vice. I’m not saying outlaw gambling, just the ads being everywhere.’
