The new Boots Christmas advert is sending right-wing bigots up the wall for its glittery “wokeness” and X knows just how to respond
Right-wing English patriots, in what one might call a rather “snowflake” fashion, have been deeply offended by Boots’ new Christmas advert’s “woke” inclusion and diversity – to the point where #boycottboots has been trending on X.
Many calling for the boycott take issue with the casting of Adjoa Andoh, who commented on how the “rich diversity of the Abbey” contrasted with the “terribly white balcony” at Buckingham Palace, as a guest on ITV’s coverage of King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023.
Here’s the advert.
And here are some of the ‘Everything I Don’t Like is Woke’ brigade in full voice.
Overreaction much?
Here’s what other Twitter users, the ones who aren’t crying about diverse skin colours and gender identities in a 60-second-long Christmas advert which has barely touched TV screens, had to say about it.
To all the people boycotting Boots because a person who literally doesn’t exist is being portrayed by a black person, I say thank you.
Thank you for being racist & stupid. Without you there’d be no Tory party and therefore no career & expenses for someone talentless like me— Mark Francewanker (@FlyOnNo10Wall) November 11, 2024
That time of year where every man and his dog get upset by who’s appearing in Christmas adverts
And they’re supposedly NOT the snowflakes
Turn the channel over and shut the fuck up#boycottboots

All the more reason to shop at Boots.
It's a decent ad. Colourful, fun, diverse, inclusive, highlighting that women do most of the labour of Christmas – and upsetting the dim racists is the bow on top. https://t.co/bFTF5FpkWQ

seeing all the bigots & racists getting triggered by the new #boots christmas advert and insisting the are going to switch to #Superdrug instead to bankrupt them is hysterical, all those gammons buying their annual bottle of SPF50 will make a huge difference!

There’s nothing better than right wing temper tantrums over a Christmas ad. It’s becoming a new Christmas tradition. Love the ad @BootsUK. Cry more @Suffragent_ https://t.co/rb6ULzq119

Here we go. Fash tears over Christmas adverts. Next it will be “Muslims have banned Christmas” nonsense. You lot can boycott boots if you like, but remember that when you piss and moan about cancel culture. Hypocrites #BoycottBoots

Darren, I hate to break it to you but Santa’s workshop isn’t a real thing, it’s a magical concept used to evoke happiness in a world of ever increasing hate and doom. You probably shouldn’t worry too much about the advert, it’s for people who want a little joy in their lives. https://t.co/2RsicxMq8U

Livs put it another way.
Boycotting the Sainsbury’s advert because I am not a BFG and this does not represent me #BoycottBoots

Remember, Christmas is a time when you should at least try to enjoy yourself a bit – maybe by staying away from grinches on X, or not being one yourself.
