RFK Jr. wants phones banned from schools – but not for any of the reasons you might think

Another day, another insight into the YouTube habits of the US Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – RFK Jr.

Like many people, he has come to the conclusion that children should reduce their use of mobile phones. Unlike most of those people, his concern is that the phones give off damaging electromagnetic radiation that causes cancer and neurological damage.

“Cell phones produce electric magnetic radiation, which has been shown to do neurological damage to kids when it’s around them all day.”

That, you won’t be shocked to hear, is not true.

Someone shared a correction, based on the FDA’s vast research database, in a Community Note.

While RF radiation from cell phones is different from other types of radiation like X-rays, which are known to be harmful, there is no consistent evidence that non-ionizing radiation increases cancer risk in humans, according to the National Cancer Institute.

The facepalms could be heard from space.
