The Daily Show updated the astronauts on what they’d missed during nine months in space, and we don’t know whether to laugh or cry
You’ve probably seen a lot of news about the two International Space Station astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams. Their planned eight days on the ISS turned into nine months, after the Boeing Starliner capsule that took them up developed problems that meant it couldn’t bring them down.
A very Florida welcome!
Earlier this week, we welcomed #Crew9 back to Earth after splashing down off the coast of Tallahassee, Florida.

The Daily Show’s Desi Lydic felt that there were one or two things that they may have missed, having been literally off the planet since June 2024.
They may have had a wild ride on the ISS and the SpaceX Dragon capsule, but Earth may have been having a wilder ride. Just listen to this –

“First, the Gulf of Mexico you landed in is now the Gulf of America, but don’t worry – the name change is symbolic. We’re not going to war with Mexico. We’re going to war with Canada and Greenland, maybe Panama …also Mexico.”
TikTok users facepalmed like they’ve never facepalmed before.
The only bad part, is that this isn’t satire.

It’s like the movie “Idiocracy” but with a worse story line.

I’d laugh if it wasn’t so depressingly true.

I would’ve stayed in space tbh.

This is top level humor here.
Timing is so spot on.Planet of the MAGA.
What they missed while they were gone. Surprise.
And there are two actual astronauts as baseline participants.
Brilliantly written. Skillfully delivered.

We’re not sure whether to feel sorry for the satirists because they can’t top real life or to feel happy for them because half of the work is done for them.
When satire is now reality. https://t.co/0bzqsddyrO
