The latest manufactured right-wing outrage about the new Snow White film might be the most unhinged so far

As night follows day, the casting of a person of colour in a role usually played by a white person is followed by howls of anguish and racist abuse by a certain demographic. It turns out that the role can have been previously ‘played’ by nothing more than paint and they’ll still lose their rag.

The new live-action Snow White has had them up in arms after the title role went to Rachel Zegler, for the internet crime of *checks notes* having a Colombian grandmother. These posts give a taste of what people have been saying about the film.

This meme is a perfect example of the toys being thrown out of the right-wing pram.

Someone provided ‘proof’ that the film is ‘woke Hollywood propaganda’, other than the central message of every Snow White film, which is ‘Be kind’. Oh, and ‘Never accept apples from strange women who show up at your door’.

Absolutely outrageous. Look at all that happiness and dancing. What is the world coming to? Cartoons Hate Her! asked the question many were thinking.

The answer – or at least one of the answers – is a stretch even Joe Wicks couldn’t manage.
