Nigel Farage sniffed out a ‘Net Zero’ conspiracy over the Heathrow airport shutdown and had his wings clipped – 9 soaraway comebacks
It’s been a few days now since Heathrow was closed for business after an electricity substation fire caused travel chaos around the world.
But the fallout looks set to run and run.
And when we say fallout, what we really mean is the desperate search to find someone to blame, a fact hunt with a tendency to involve the usual suspects coming to especially swift conclusions despite having little or no idea what they are talking about.
Which brings us neatly to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who had this to say.
Heathrow Airport had no diesel generator backup. It was removed as part of their drive to net zero.
Dubai Airport and many military bases do have diesel generators and their aircraft would have continued flying.
The truth about this disaster is being withheld.

Not like Farage to sniff a conspiracy theory, eh readers?
And these 9 response were especially straight to the point.
1.
Let me guess.
You’ve got the information, You’ll release it soon.
Just like you were going to expose what really happened in Southport right?
How many times are we going to fall for this pantomime?
You don’t need more “truth”, you need a spine.
Because real leadership isn’t…

The backup generator did kick in and allowed the tower, ILS, AFIS, landing lights etc to operate
But pretty pointless if there’s no power to the terminals as you can’t get anyone on or off a plane if the air bridges are not working or no way to scan passports and boarding cards…

This is an outright lie.
It’s being weaponised by the far-right to frame their latest climate denialism attacks.
Why don’t you get back to the pool in Florida and butt out of UK politics for good?

This simpleton thinks a diesel generator can keep an airport the size of a small city going. pic.twitter.com/If17vvbwAd

The backups did work! But Farage is too stupid to realise you need more than a diesel generator for baggage systems – it’s not just a carousel it’s miles of automated sorting and carrying, esculators, lifts, fuelling, thousands of lights, main frame servers… a small city!!! https://t.co/PbO4fa7nYf

Nigel Farage is the diesel of politics: noisy, last century, and belches out hot air.

Heathrow does have backup power for essential systems, but the grid going down made travel to, from and within the airport, dangerous. No diesel generator can run all the systems and keep the lights on for an airport the size of Heathrow.
