Fox News tied itself in knots finding the ‘positive’ from the epic White House security breach and it’s a proper jaw-dropper
Not everyone was outraged by the frankly historic White House national security breach that saw highly sensitive military plans shared to a giant group chat that included a journalist who was just as surprised as everyone else.
And when we say ‘not everyone’ what we really mean is ‘Fox News’, which went to no ends not only to downplay an extraordinary screw-up, but actually to find the positive in all of this.
First up (but not the best) is Fox News anchor Jesse ‘shallow’ Watters, explaining the story to viewers as if they had the mental age of a pre-schooler (insert your own jokes here).

But the proper jaw-dropper was his Fox News colleague Will Cain – no, us neither – who not only downplayed the scandal but actually found the positive in the whole thing. A great big positive! And it’s a quite extraordinary watch.
Fox host Will Cain’s take away from The Atlantic scoop is that Americans should be “proud” these are our leaders
“It is insight into the thought process and dialog of our nat’l leaders … I think you will come away proud these are the leaders making these decisions in America” pic.twitter.com/uzJh9hbEeC

Wrapped himself in so many knots we’re going to have to get David Blaine to untie him. Here’s what the Fox News man had to say on Twitter (just in case you still needed convincing he actually said it).
The biggest takeaway on the Signal story …(yes there are concerns about this all going down on Signal and accidentally adding Jeffrey Goldberg instead of most probably Jameson Greer)…is how thoughtful, collaborative and honest all of these people were in their deliberation.

And here are just a few of the many things people said about it.

This really is state TV now https://t.co/YFqyUASJ4z

That’s a weird way of trying to ignore monumental amounts of incompetence.

A reminder that the job of the media is to hold powerful government actors to account, not to worship them or do their public relations. Truly embarrassing stuff here. https://t.co/MrP9qS1SUc

This Fox clown can run all the spin he wants, but this is an unconscionable act that our allies just cringe at. You think they’re really going to share anything with us anymore? Especially since we’re cozying up to russia?

I don’t know what’s more embarrassing. The entire story or your shilling for the indefensible.
