Donald Trump’s jaw-dropping response to the White House security breach was like the essence of Trump in 58 seconds flat
A few months into his second term at the White House and we should probably be accustomed by now to Donald Trump’s response whenever anything goes wrong in his administration. Because there has been no shortage of examples, obviously.
And yet it still manages to make our jaw drop when the Trump playbook comes into action, and nowhere more was this more vividly demonstrated than the president’s response to this week’s unprecedented White House security leak.
You remember – the one when highly sensitive military operational details were discussed in a group chat that just happened to include the editor in chief of the Atlantic Magazine. Great work, folks!
And Trump’s response was like the essence of his administration in 58 seconds flat.
Trump suggests Jeffrey Goldberg hacked the Signal group or something: “The person that was on just happens to be a sleazebag, so maybe that’s just coincidence. I don’t know … he’s basically bad for the country.” pic.twitter.com/bfioD0HOAx

Just in case that wasn’t clear enough …

We especially like the impression Trump gives that he thinks it’s a phone call he’s talking about rather than a text-based group chat.
And here is exactly what people made of that.
1.
Trump just suggested Jeffrey Goldberg “hacked” the Signal group even though Mike Waltz admitted to adding him.
He’s such a child.
They are all fucking children.
It’s so embarrassing.— CALL TO ACTIVISM (@CalltoActivism) March 25, 2025
2.
Are they forgetting, or ignoring the fact that Goldberg has the evidence of the invite…..that he has ALL the receipts?

3.
So top Trump administration officials were using a chatroom for sensitive war planning that a journalist with zero technology knowledge can just “hack into”. Yeah that’s super fucking secure. I’m sure someone at Signal HQ is going ballistic right now.

4.
So Trump wants us to believe that a journalist hacked his team’s Signal chat instead of admitting they just screwed up? This is next-level delusion.

5.
if the Atlantic can hack your top secret communications China probably can too https://t.co/93wjZGAVyY

6.
Lets be fair here. Trump likely has never heard of Signal before all of this, and if you said “signal” he would look up in the sky and look for a giant bat shadow, and ask if he had a red phone to reach Batman too.
