The Trump admin’s ‘Signal Gate’ explanation was so weird even Fox News wasn’t buying it and it’s the most hilariously brain-frazzling thing you’ll watch this week
Never let it be said that Donald Trump’s government is not an administration of the biggest brains, the very biggest brains.
Why, take his national security advisor Michael Waltz here, who appears to have taken responsibility – well, up to a degree – for the security cock-up that saw a Signal chat group containing highly sensitive military information leaked to a journalist, Atlantic editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg.
Waltz went on Fox News – the easiest of all possible routes to go down – to try to explain what had happened, and watching him try to wrap his big head around how phone contacts work is surely the most brain-frazzling thing you’ll watch this week.

Our favourite bit is where he explains they’ve got ‘the best technical minds’ on the case, as if it’s that complicated. Absolutely not enough facepalm in the world.
And these people surely said it best.

“somehow” what a fucking joke dude. Imagine going on FOX and still looking like a dumb fuck. At minimum, everyone involved should resign. Optimally they’d be in prison.

BREAKING: Mike Waltz goes even further, suggesting that Jeffrey Goldberg somehow hacked into his phone and replaced the contact labeled “JG” with his own number to gain access to this Signal group chat. Bring out the tinfoil hats. This is crazy! pic.twitter.com/vZ7s3uyJnq

“It gets sucked in” wtf kind of answer is that?

Even the friendliest Fox interviewer can’t make sense of the Walz defense and leaves Walz looking ludicrous and dishonest https://t.co/9KlbjiBh87

So he’s admitting that it wouldn’t even take a professional hacker to get into this highly secure national security top secret clearance chat. Just any “loser” could do it.
