US marjorie taylor greene sky news
This British journalist wouldn’t take MTG’s ‘go back to your own country’ for an answer and the American reporter’s A++ follow-up was slam-dunk magnificent
Anyone who has come across Republican congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene will know that she’s not overly keen to be questioned by someone who doesn’t share her opinions, such as hey are.
And she’s even less happy about it if the person asking the questions is from the UK.
So bravo to Sky News reporter Martha Kelner’s fabulous questioning of the gun-toting, Trump=loving, conspiracy-spreading MTG and her determination not to take ‘go back to your own country’ for an answer.
And the American reporter’s follow-up question – Taylor Greene was presumably hoping for a more on-side questioner – made it even better.
️ “Why don’t you go back to your own country”.
US representative Marjorie Taylor-Greene snaps at Sky’s @marthakelner when asked about the accidental leaking of sensitive messages on Signal.

Or if you’d like to cut quicker to the follow-up …
Greene: What country are you from?
Reporter: The UK
Greene: We don’t give a crap about your opinion.. why don’t you go back to your country. This is an American journalist.
Second Reporter: I’d like to hear your answer to what she’s asking

Magnificent work, everybody! No, not you Congresswoman, clearly. And here are our favourite things people said about it.

Per my previous post, the one thing you can rely on with British journalists is not to give up or give ground.
Congratulations to Sky News reporter Martha Kelner @marthakelner for hanging on in there and forcing a retreat from Madge Greene. pic.twitter.com/JMkSMvpQCQ

Respect to @marthakelner for keeping calm and politely persistent, even when hit with "why don't you go back to your country".
Journalists are there to pursue answers, and not to be fobbed off. https://t.co/k5ldzGHSDY— Adam Parsons (@adamparsons) March 26, 2025

MTG is horrendous! I love the American reporter’s question after her first vile response to Martha. MTG is a national embarrassment. https://t.co/e268QhLDa8

Looking at this in full, MTG was well and thoroughly on the back foot – and you could tell she was because she started deflecting and obfuscating like her life depended on it.
Brilliantly done by @marthakelner – my hat is well and thoroughly tipped!

Having worked with @marthakelner and watched Marjorie Taylor-Green, the calmness of the former, and the lunacy of the latter comes as absolutely no surprise here. More power to Martha for asking the right questions the right way. As ever. https://t.co/i8QDahFLTF

Well done @marthakelner @SkyNews – I’m actually shocked about what you had to endure here, the deflective attacks, the tone and comments about UK. You were brilliant and how fantastic that the other journalist wanted the same answers. Well done Martha https://t.co/P7hrtu8ktL

And it would be so good to see the media doing more of this, asking the question again and again until it gets a proper response. Beginning with Donald Trump in the Oval Office
