Life annoying reddit

Brits have been sharing the ‘minor inconveniences’ that especially wind them up and these 23 really get our goat

As a nation, we talk a lot about the big problems facing the UK, like the state of the economy or the struggling NHS, but we don’t pay so much attention to the smaller, less serious niggles that get on our nerves on a day-to-day basis.

They’ve been talking about this on the AskUK subreddit, after user RockLobsterDunDun asked:

‘What’s a minor inconvenience in the UK that winds you up the most?

For me it’s the lack of air conditioning in most places whilst its getting hotter and hotter (but it costs tonnes to add into shops and housing)’.

And plenty of people pitched in with the little things they find irritating about life in the UK.

‘Slow walkers. Also people that block the pavement or doorways because they have no clue other people exist.’

‘Reduced stickers not covering the original barcode. And even when they do, Tesco tills have a bad habit of picking up the original barcode. And because you’re on a self service till you can’t then unscan that product (although I’m not sure how this would make theft easier – surely I’d just not scan it if I was planning on stealing?).’

‘Roadwork traffic lights and no one is working.’

‘Cafés closing early (5/6PM) meaning anyone meeting friends is limited to the pub. Countries like Korea, you can meet someone at 9:30PM and go to the coffee shop and chill out.’

‘Always opening a pack of painkillers on the end where the information sheet is folded. I do not need this extra hassle when I am horrendously hungover.’

‘Having travelled all over the world, the public transport in the Uk is absolutely diabolical for a country that was as rich as it once was.’

‘A lack of open air café culture keeping town centres alive and safe after dark. Where I’m from it’s colder and rains more than in England yet we have an open air café culture and our towns feel more lively and safe after dark as a result.’

‘Every time I get a joint of meat from the supermarket the cooking instructions are on some peel back thing under the label. It is nigh on impossible to peel it back, it’s always damp and tends to disintegrate as you peel it and I have to Google the cooking instructions.’
