Saturday Night Live absolutely dragged Trump’s inner circle in their hilarious response to the US group chat scandal
It’s less than three months into the Trump administration, yet they’ve already managed a screw-up so spectacular that it would have brought down most previous presidencies.
The inclusion of Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg in a detailed Signal chat about the US attack on the Yemen has so far had zero professional consequences for those involved, including national security adviser Mike Waltz, CIA director John Ratcliffe and defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, but it has severly embarrassed all involved – not to mention Donald Trump.
The ketchup must have really hit the wall at the weekend, when Saturday Night Live (SNL) tackled the incident in its cold open. Watch how it unfolded.
“This is Jennabelle.”
“Oh, nice. Jennabelle from Defense, right?”
“Hey, I think you have the wrong group chat.”
“Lololol!
Could you imagine if that actually happened? *Homer disappear into bush GIF*
Hey, while I got everyone, sending a PDF with updated locations of all our nuclear submarines. Check that one we got chilling right outside Shanghai.”
Yes, just imagine if that actually happened.
It got a round of applause from YouTube commenters.
The trip to Greenland is “mysterious and important” LOL.

All I can think is SNL is getting so much material this year.

I knew they were going to have fun with this. The show’s just writing itself at this point. The Gaetz joke was *chef’s kiss*.

When they posted the link on Twitter, it picked up even more plaudits.

This skit was pretty close to the real incident – the Republicans were embarassing this week!

The real event was literally as pathetic as this skit. Journalist, high school students, really doesn't make much of a difference. https://t.co/7TcB3A5qsd

The prestige of U.S. NatSec has been reduced to a skit on SNL. Add this to AirForce+Navy pilots posting anonymously that they do not trust Hegseth to be competent when it comes to OpSec and their safety and conditions point to a failure in leadership. https://t.co/jsDYkt29Vi

EZ Rider was far from the only person expressing this opinion, but they expressed it very well.
I am feeling for the SNL writers. How do they figure out which Trump administration snafus to use each week? The show is only 90 minutes https://t.co/i7GJcQF0FX

As well as the predictable Maga meltdown in the replies, there was one criticism.
