21 scathing reactions to Trump’s claim that he could serve a third term in the White House
When listening to claims from Donald Trump, a pinch of salt won’t do. The contents of the Dead Sea are needed to represent the level of scepticism required for the gaslighting and poorly researched statements emanating from the oval orifice these days, and this comment is no different.
Trump: I have had more people ask me to have a third term which in a way is a fourth term because the other election was totally rigged. pic.twitter.com/sJX8mVBbN4

We would strongly suggest that –
Only sycophants are asking him to run again.
He absolutely and legitimately lost the 2020 election.
He has not had the best 100 days of any president.
It’s only been 70 days.
He really went for broke.

There are not, currently, methods for having a third term in the office of President of the USA.
To get a third term in office, Trump would have to amend the constitution or break it – two things we’re sure he thinks he could get away with, in much the same way as he thinks he can get away with applying foundation with a mop.

PSA: there are not “methods” for Donald Trump to serve a third term and anyone who tells you otherwise is a motherfucking idiot.

I hope everyone understands this isn't a drill. He is serious and his people will try to make it happen, even if they say otherwise right now. pic.twitter.com/cuAz3NdgJH

There's no wiggle room in the Constitution.
The 22nd Amendment states that “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
It's that simple.

Trump should really stop talking about running for a third term unless he wants to get absolutely humiliated by President Obama in a presidential race. pic.twitter.com/eb6S2Hna4v

If Biden or Obama or Clinton or any Democrat seriously floated the idea of running for a third term as president, the GOP would immediately hold congressional hearings and threaten impeachment. It would dominate rightwing media for months.
What will Mr. Schumer's response be?…

I'm not a political expert, but a two term president trying to rationalize his legal entitlement to a "third term" sounds an awful lot like autocracy.

This weekend Trump threatened to use military force against Greenland & run for a third term
It’s hard to state just how frightening that should be. Those are presidency-ending comments in normal times. So it’s almost as unnerving that everyone’s response is, whatevs, it’s Trump

Now that Trump has admitted he wants to abolish the 22nd Amendment so he can run for a 3rd term in 2028, it's time for the mainstream media to stop calling it a presidency. It is not. It's a fascist, authoritarian regime. Therefore, call it the "Trump regime," as I refer to it.
