Chinese state media shows ‘Gundam’ as evidence of Japanese military aggression
China’s state broadcaster CCTV used images of a robot from the sci-fi franchise Gundam during a programme about alleged Japanese military aggression towards the country, reports the Hong Kong Free Press.
The show Focus Today reported how Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe ‘clamors’ for war against China, and talked about the secret weapons Japan has that Abe doesn’t want the world to know about – including Gundam suits.
Kotaku adds that Focus Today didn’t specifically mention Gundam when it briefly appeared on screen, at least a 60-foot-tall Mobile Suit Gundam is a step up from the time CCTV used a bit of the film Top Gun in a news report about new Chinese jets.
