Alton Towers launches world’s first virtual reality three hour long queue

Theme park Alton Towers has unveiled the world’s first virtual reality queue, which allows users to stand up for three hours while some bored children kick them in the back of the shins.

The ride, which will launch this summer, promises “all the crushing tedium and slow forward movement of a traditional theme park queue, but with the added comfort of a heavy VR headset.”

“VR Queue will take visitors on a dizzying immersive journey from the very start of the queue to about twenty yards further up the queue, all in the space of three incredible hours,” said a spokesman for the theme park, who anticipate that the ride will be a bit hit due to the British love of queueing.

“While you are in the world of VR Queue the cutting edge headset offers a full 360° view, so you’ll be able to look around and see realistically rendered people in the line looking as bored and restless as you are.”

“State-of-the-art motion technology also means you’ll really be able to feel those people in the queue standing uncomfortably close behind you. You simply won’t want the queue to ever end.”
