Man gets schooled by Yorkshire Tea after complaining on Twitter
Make yourself a cuppa and enjoy this man complaining to Yorkshire Tea that their tea isn’t actually grown in Yorkshire.
He probably wasn’t expecting the sarcastic and feisty series of responses he got back…
@YorkshireTea hey can you tell me which part of great Yorkshire you actually grow your tealeaves in that are used in great Yorkshire tea?

@2spikywwefans Yes, of course. We grow it in our massive hydroponic tea plantation two miles beneath the surface of Dewsbury.

But it doesn’t end there.
@YorkshireTea you wouldn't be telling porky pies now would you? As your website states different! pic.twitter.com/BGhxwHZrU9

@2spikywwefans Oh no. You caught us red handed.
— Yorkshire Tea (@YorkshireTea) December 5, 2016
And it doesn’t end there either.
@2spikywwefans English Breakfast tea isn't grown in England either. We're sorry to be the ones to break this to you.

@YorkshireTea then maybe you should state this fact on your advert instead of leading the public to believe there is actually something(1/2)

Their reply was basically “make like a tea bush and leaf”. Or something.
@2spikywwefans We're based here, we blend it here & we created it here for the water here. This conversation also ends here.

But unlike most online arguments, this actually ends amicably.
After privately talking 2 @YorkshireTea I conced I made a mistake, I hold my hands up they do some fantastic community work, nice one guys

So congratulations to whoever runs Yorkshire Tea’s Twitter account, as well as @2spikywwefans for apologising so graciously. This does set a dangerously “polite” precedent for social media – hopefully everyone else will carry on shouting abuse and issuing death threats, just to keep things balanced.
