easyJet reveals bizarre secret hand codes of cabin crew
EASYJET has revealed secret hand codes used by staff on flights – including a chicken dance – in a staff training video released by the company.
The low fare airline responded on social media to a passenger’s video recording of easyJet cabin crew conversing using bizarre hand signals.
Virgin Radio DJ Jamie East, posted a short clip to Twitter featuring stewards using hand signals to communicate with crew in the galley.

The video shows a cabin crew member doing the chicken arm dance hand whilst serving the on-board food service.
Sports presenter Gabby Logan commented “……the chicken in row 5 wants tea. Duh.”

Another user tweeted “Got to be cabin crew playing charades right?!” and another guessed “It’s the birdie song!”
This led to easyJet later releasing an instructional video normally used for internal training purposes.
Hand motions explained in the training video include those for when passengers order from the food menu and for special situations including marriage proposals or stag parties.
Other highlights include the Bacon Baguette
There’s even a signal for if a passenger becomes trapped in the toilet.
Tina Milton, Head of Cabin Services said, “With over 6 million passengers served each month, the ‘secret code’ has been invented to enable our cabin crew to deliver a speedy and efficient service, whilst keeping unnecessary crew noise to a minimum and provide passengers with a relaxing and enjoyable flight.
