Theresa May suffered her worst day of the election – and probably her prime ministership – after announcing a dramatic U-turn on her plans for social care after they were dubbed a ‘dementia tax’ by critics.
We’re used to governments backtracking on their election manifestos, just not before they’ve actually been elected.
