“Worried” neighbours mistake Jack Daniels flag for the ISIS flag

An Italian man living in Zürich was asked by his neighbours if he was a Islamic State sympathiser after they confused his Jack Daniels flag for a ISIS one.

The Register reports that man got an anonymous letter from his neighbours that read: “Should we be afraid of you? First the Italian flag and now the black flag of death. Are you an IS sympathiser?”

Here’s a useful side-by-side comparison:

The Local adds that the man asked his neighbours who sent the letter, but nobody confessed to writing it – probably due to his threat of legal action if he finds the culprit because of the “damage to his reputation.”

ISIS can be incredibly confusing – in 2015 a Swedish woman’s 21st birthday was ruined when police raided her house after they thought two balloons that said “21” was “IS”, short for Islamic State.
