This lawyer had an unconventional solution to upskirting and got precisely the responses he deserved
Lawyer Nick Freeman’s Twitter name is @TheMrLoophole because of his reputation for getting rich people acquitted of drink-driving charges due to technicalities. He probably wishes he could find a loophole to excuse one particularly ill-advised tweet, after he received a barrage of criticism.
This is what caused the furore.
Whilst this is totally unacceptable conduct, if women
assumed some responsibility for their attire, they would not be in jeopardy. Prosecutions will only utilise valuable police and CPS
resources that should be prioritised elsewhere. #upskirting https://t.co/dkUGnIVCpV— Nick Freeman (@TheMrLoophole) June 15, 2018
It seems victim blaming is alive and well, but the replies were having none of it.

Did you really just say “If women didn’t wear short skirts men wouldn’t be tempted to surreptitiously stick a camera up them to take a photo of their underwear”? Should we all wear Burkhas when we leave the house, Nick?

People who get mugged – take some responsibility and stop looking well-to-do!
People who get burgled – if you’re going to keep your things in one place, what do you expect?
People who have their cars stolen – well, it’s a very nice car; what did you think was going to happen?— Stuart Taylor (@stuartctaylor) June 15, 2018

This is an excellent point. In fact, if women just never left the home, they'd be in no jeopardy of *any* crime, and police and CPS resources could be prioritised elsewhere, such as, oh I don't know, fighting ambush defences run by millionaires trying to avoid driving bans. https://t.co/OrewG3rU6H
