This person’s ‘Little Mermaid’ objection doesn’t hold water – our favourite 9 takedowns
Word on the street is that Disney might cast Zendaya Coleman – you might remember the actress and singer from The Greatest Showman – as Ariel in its live action adaption of The Little Mermaid.
This person’s objection to the possible casting went viral because, well, have a read for yourself.
And these are the only 9 responses you need.

Sooo… your issue is that science says that because Ariel lives underwater she wouldn't have the melanin to be Black… but her being a mermaid & having a talking crab as a friend is okay? pic.twitter.com/8h8OaMSmRZ

melatonin…yes we already know Ariel is sad b/c she lives under the sea and can’t get laid sir what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Imagine leveraging a "science doesn't support this" argument against a mythological creature. Science doesn't support the existence of mermaids, PERIOD. ♀️

I CANNOT ABIDE SCIENTIFICALLY INACCURATE REPRESENTATIONS OF FISH-WOMAN HYBRIDS.

Based on the scenery and other fish she seems to be living in shallow, warm-water coral reefs. The fact that she's a pale redhead is way less realistic– TRUST ME that white people in the same waters become too sunburnt to function.

Also… doesn’t it depend on how she swims, and how she stays warm? lots/most whales are dark on their backs and light on stomachs. Walruses and many seals are dark. And if she lived super deep and never came up …wouldn’t she be clear?

If she lived in the abyss, she might well be bioluminescent. Zendaya also naturally glows. Therefore this casting is valid.
