Daily Mail to use Comic Sans to lighten mood

Font News: The Daily Mail has announced plans to adopt the font Comic Sans across all of its print and digital media titles, in order to ‘lighten the mood’ of its stories.

“Even the most ardent bigot from the home counties can find reading the Mail every day a bit of a slog,” said Associated Newspapers spokesman Milton Vine-Tomato. “So we figured we’d lighten the mood a bit and publish everything in Comic Sans.”

“It’ll add a much-needed sense of fun to stories about immigrants, benefit cheats and articles preying on women’s insecurities about their bodies.”

The switch came after the Daily Mail’s editor, Paul Dacre, saw a passive-aggressive note stuck to the office fridge, written in the Comic Sans font.

“I thought that if this took the edge off demanding people stop stealing milk, then this could work wonders for the seething resentment held towards our titles,” gurgled Dacre. “If this switch in fonts works out, the next phase is to introduce some cheerful clip-art into the paper.”

“I like pictures of hens.”
