Boris Johnson accused Labour of wasting MPs’ time and the Speaker’s comeback was magnificent
Not long to go now until Boris Johnson will leave Downing Street for the last time, and even though he’s only been there 3 years it’s beginning to feel like twice that.
And during that time we’ve seen no end of entertaining and supremely satisfying takedowns of the so-called PM.
But we’re not sure we’ve never seen one quite so devastating as the one delivered by the Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle after Johnson accused Labour of wasting MPs’ time in Monday night’s confidence vote in the government.
Because it was simply delicious.
Boris Johnson: “I have no idea why” Labour has “insisted” on a confidence motion in the Government today
Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle: “It’s actually the Government that has put it down for today”

At least in this respect Johnson went out on a high.
Might be the first time Hoyle’s ever called him out for misleading parliament. Better late than never.

How to make a complete prat of yourself.

Johnson’s always on top of his brief. Nothing ever gets past him.

The @Conservatives tabling a motion of no confidence in themselves and not even being aware of it is quite simply beyond parody. Enough. The country needs a fresh start with a new government.pic.twitter.com/sQ9EaqoK5u
