Obesity epidemic will lead to a ‘jollier Britain’
Health News: Medical experts believe that the obesity epidemic in the UK could lead to Britain becoming the jolliest country in Europe.
A new study by scientists from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine say that if current trends continue, within five years time the majority of the UK’s population will be ‘very jolly’ – with thin, miserable people making up a tiny minority.
“Years from now the UK will be a vastly different place.” said Professor Ian Roberts, who led the study. “The jolly chuckling of fat Britain will fill our ears and the ruddy, wobbling jowls will fill our eyes – as people routinely joke about heart disease before tucking into another plate of chips.”
Professor Roberts says that if we don’t change our eating habits now, future generations will become increasingly jolly – eventually leading to a UK population of permanently cheerful people in very good spirits who don’t live past middle age.
