How this reporter responded to a bigoted woman in Lee Anderson’s constituency was simply magnificent
To Lee Anderson’s Ashfield constituency where journalist Moya Lothian-McLean went to on behalf of @novaramedia to talk to some of the people who would (or would not) be voting in the general election.
And the exchange with this particular woman makes for a grim watch but we mention it because it was so well handled by @mlothianmclean.
And the way she wrapped it up was A++, simply no other expression for it.
Went to Lee Anderson's constituency with @novaramedia to see what issues are cutting through to voters – got told I wasn't English, Enoch Powell had the right idea and to go back where I came from. This encounter, sadly, was not an outlier. Full report out Friday. pic.twitter.com/q58uPeJuJI

And here are just a few of the many things people were saying about it.
Well handled. "I'll return to Herefordshire" was brilliant

Grim, but brilliantly handled. What an ending. https://t.co/prYpo1Nj2v

Wow!!! It’s the way she just expects you to stand a listen and doesn’t think there is anything wrong in what she is saying, let’s hope her family are happy to look after her in her old age.

.Thankfully, she isn’t voting at all.

You have the patience of a saint – you handled the conversation brilliantly and calmly – and proved a point beautifully.

You really don’t have to scratch very deep to find that deep seam of nastiness.
“It’s not personal” my arse. https://t.co/0uY60pHxgo

Well done for exposing this disgusting attitude.

"nothing personal but you shouldn't be here, or, y'know, exist"

Not shocking. An entire generation of British People are groomed to hate Minorities & blame them for all their own failings. It's why so many Kids leave home for a City & never go back.
Small towns, rotting to nothing, as the people left behind, all Radicalise eachother further. https://t.co/TRkElCx3ak— Michael Walsh (@thatbloodyMikey) June 13, 2024
"Um, so, after this interview I will be returning to Herefordshire."
Reporting for the #GeneralElection has absolutely peaked with this from @mlothianmclean
Everyone can go home now and just wait till the 4th of July to vote. https://t.co/q6Key7608Z
