This hilarious clip from ‘Police Squad’ may have been the inspiration for the foundation of Google
We adore the 1982 American comedy series Police Squad!. Bizarrely it was cancelled after only six episodes, but it remains a cult classic which went on to spawn the hugely popular Naked Gun movie franchise.
One recurring character was Shoeshine Johnny, who could provide instant information about pretty much everything (for a price).
A clip has gone hugely viral on Twitter/X after being shared by Internet Hall of Fame, who drew a comparison between Shoeshine Johnny and Google (founded some 16 years later).
