This French politician’s hilarious way of refusing a handshake with the far-right was simply magnifique
To the French parliament now – no, stick with us – and this MP’s brilliant way of blanking a handshake with a member of the far right.
It’s French left-wing MP Francois Piquemal, of La France Insoumise, who played an impromptu game of ‘scissors, paper, rock’ rather than shake hands with newly appointed MP Flavien Termet, from the National Rally right-wing party.
delightful scene in the National Assembly where a left-wing MP elegantly refused to shake the hand of a far-right MP by doing rock-paper-scissors instead https://t.co/Nb2LrICIIz

C’est magnifique!
And here’s just a little bit of the love people had for it.
This is very funny.

Relations with the far right must never be normal.
This is how it’s done. ✂️ https://t.co/JT7b2Pv5YN

I've been thinking about this left-wing MP winning at rock-paper-scissors to avoid shaking the far right MP's hand a lot since yesterday
It's not just incredibly funny, but also politically vital as the far right is not just another political force but a threat to democracy

Contrary to what we are seeing with mainstream actors in France, the UK & the US, one doesn't have to "find common ground" with those whose politics are incredibly violent to various communities a proper democracy should stand with and in fact threaten democracy itself

And if you think the far right isn't that bad a threat, you are conveniently not paying attention to the many clear signs…

Small but important victory of le gauche against l'extreme Droit.

Brilliant little shrug after, too

Not everyone appreciated it.
It's juvenile. They're all public servants with electoral mandates.

But they were wrong, so very wrong.
I’ve lost two hours of my life to watching this 4 second clip on repeat https://t.co/GO7lnaJSHH
