An American golf fan took a swing at the Scottish weather and of all the comebacks this was a savage hole-in-one
You don’t have to be a golf fan to appreciate this, an American golf fan who took a swing at the Scottish weather and lived to regret it.
It was the Open golf tournament at Royal Troon over the last four days, coming to an end on Sunday, and it’s fair to say the weather on the south western coast of Scotland was pretty grim, especially for this time of year.
And it wasn’t just the rain that played havoc on the course (and among the spectators) it was the wind. Just take a look at this.
The wind is so strong at Troon right now that we’ve got pilots playing fades trying to land at Prestwick airport. pic.twitter.com/WRmHfNPevc

And we mention all this because of one particular American golf fan who took to Twitter to vent just a little bit of their frustration.
No offense, but why the hell would anyone live in Scotland if this is the weather in JULY!?!?

And it prompted no end of responses from Scottish Twitter as you might imagine …
My weans skin is waterproof, not bulletproof so I think I'll stick with Scotland cheers, yank.

It’s a bonny place to live ole chap! People are hardy and friendly. Eat together. Drink together. Work together. It’s a beautiful place. Just not your cup of tea. But just right for some

Becuase it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world with more history than your little mind can comprehend https://t.co/giDGwZGcRs pic.twitter.com/5qzClkrU8x

Troon averages 2.6 inches of rain in July; Long Island, NY averages 2.7 inches.

… but this was a particularly savage hole in one.
No offence taken Yank but rain doesn’t hurt as much as being shot by fucking lunatics with assault rifles they can buy at fucking convenience stores. https://t.co/WG3OE26esl

Out of bounds?
Good point, succinctly and accurately presented!

Nice to see you not taking a light hearted joke about weather to heart
— . (@shadey_67) July 21, 2024
Definitely should have included "raining bullets" in your reply.

But fair play to @BrianKirschner_ who appeared to join in the fun (well, kind of).
This tweet has reached Scottish twitter and I’m fucked https://t.co/GPqyBEmZvj

Let’s hope he enjoyed the golf (despite the weather) and American Xander Schauffele’s win!
Last word to @BrianKirschner_.
I really don’t care but this is an absolutely wild response to me making a mild comment about their weather pic.twitter.com/9P2eHrlJ58
