Nigel Havers To Play Nick Clegg In Coalition Recast

Politics News: The Government has confirmed actor Nigel Havers will now play Nick Clegg in an attempt to add a ‘suave, debonaire edge to the relentless persecution of the poor’.

The shock cabinet recast was announced yesterday after the Government and Clegg fell out over ‘creative differences’ about the direction of his character. It’s hoped that Havers will bring a ‘charming, likeable quality’ to the role of Nick Clegg in future performances.

“We couldn’t be happier to have the distinguished actor Nigel Havers join our cast,” said a Downing Street spokesman.

“We hope he brings the steely British determination that he showed us in Chariots of Fire, as well as the charisma and minor criminal skills he displayed during his time on Coronation Street.”

If Havers proves popular with audiences as the deputy PM, Downing Street has not ruled out further recasts.

Julie Walters, who played Mo Mowlam in a 2010 TV movie, is rumoured to be in talks to take over the role of Theresa May – and Pob, the popular 1980’s puppet, is reportedly keen to play Michael Gove.
